This year (2024) marks the 50th anniversary of the World's Largest Holstein Cow in New Salem, North Dakota. Salem Sue continues to be a dominant figure in North Dakota's landscape since its inception in 1974 as a New Salem Lions project, commemorating the local dairy industry.

As part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration, the New Salem Lions Club, the New Salem Civic Club, and Northern Lights Digital are conducting a 12-month photo contest open to all from June 1, 2024 to June 1, 2025.

Photos can date back no more than 5 years from the present date.

Photos must be uploaded to: www.salemsue.com

Photos cannot be enhanced, and editing must be limited to cropping.

There will be a limit of 3 photos per entry.

Photos must be in high-resolution JPEG format.

Photo uploads must be accompanied by an electronic entry form with your name and contact information. (i.e. - Word document)

Photos may be signed by the photographer.

Prize money will be awarded for:

  • First Place: $2,000

  • Second Place: $1,500

  • Third Place: $1,000

Any or all submitted photos may be used by the New Salem Lions Club for future calendars or promotions.
